Terms and Conditions for Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Healing Through Love (HTL). We deeply appreciate your dedication and commitment to supporting our mission to raise awareness about domestic and family violence and provide resources and support to survivors. Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully before participating in our volunteer program.
Acceptance of Terms
By signing up to volunteer with Healing Through Love, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Healing Through Love reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Continued volunteer participation constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
Volunteer Role
Volunteers at Healing Through Love are expected to provide their time and services voluntarily, without expectation of financial compensation. The volunteer role and responsibilities will be clearly outlined during the application and onboarding process. Volunteers are expected to perform their tasks to the best of their ability and in alignment with Healing Through Love’s values and mission.
Eligibility
To volunteer with Healing Through Love, individuals must:
– Be 18 years or older, unless otherwise specified for a specific volunteer role.
– Complete and submit any required application forms and background checks, if applicable.
– Attend any necessary training sessions or orientation as required for the volunteer role.
– Comply with all policies, procedures, and safety requirements set forth by Healing Through Love.
Confidentiality
During your volunteer work, you may have access to sensitive information related to survivors of domestic violence and other confidential matters. As a volunteer, you agree to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all personal information, case details, and internal information shared with you during your volunteer work. This obligation continues even after your volunteer service ends.
Volunteers must not:
– Share or disclose any confidential information about survivors, staff, other volunteers, or organizational operations.
– Discuss or post sensitive information about HTL’s work on social media, in public forums, or with unauthorized individuals.
Conduct and Behaviour
Healing Through Love expects all volunteers to conduct themselves with integrity, professionalism, and respect. Volunteers must:
– Act in a manner that aligns with HTL’s values, including compassion, respect, and inclusivity.
– Treat all staff, other volunteers, survivors, and members of the public with dignity and respect.
– Avoid any form of harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour.
– Report any misconduct or safety concerns to a designated HTL staff member or supervisor immediately.
Volunteers must also abide by all applicable laws and regulations during their volunteer work.
Commitment and Availability
HTL understands that volunteers are offering their time freely, but we ask that volunteers honour the commitments they make. Volunteers are responsible for:
– Attending scheduled shifts, events, or tasks punctually.
– Notifying their supervisor or volunteer coordinator as early as possible if they are unable to fulfill their scheduled commitments.
– Completing the full duration of any agreed-upon volunteer role or project, unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
Health and Safety
Healing Through Love is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for volunteers, staff, and the individuals we support. Volunteers must:
– Follow all health and safety protocols as outlined by HTL during volunteer activities.
– Take reasonable care of their own health and safety, as well as the health and safety of others, while performing volunteer tasks.
– Report any hazards, injuries, or safety concerns to their supervisor immediately.
Use of Property and Resources
Healing Through Love may provide volunteers with materials, equipment, or resources needed to perform their roles. Volunteers must:
– Use all HTL property and resources responsibly and only for their intended purpose.
– Return any borrowed equipment or materials in good condition upon completion of their volunteer service.
Media and Public Relations
As a volunteer for Healing Through Love, you may be photographed, filmed, or quoted in promotional materials. By volunteering, you consent to the use of your image and/or statements in any HTL publications, social media, websites, or marketing materials. If you do not wish to be included in media, please notify the volunteer coordinator in advance.
Volunteers must not engage with the media on behalf of Healing Through Love without prior authorization from HTL staff. Any public statements about HTL’s work must reflect the organization’s mission, values, and policies.
Termination of Volunteer Service
Healing Through Love reserves the right to terminate a volunteer’s service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. Reasons for termination may include, but are not limited to:
– Breach of confidentiality.
– Inappropriate conduct or behaviour.
– Failure to adhere to these Terms and Conditions.
– Inability to fulfill the volunteer role or complete assigned tasks.
Volunteers may also choose to discontinue their service at any time by notifying the volunteer coordinator or supervisor.
Indemnity and Liability
Healing Through Love is committed to providing a safe environment; however, volunteering may involve certain risks. By volunteering with HTL, you acknowledge and accept that:
– You are voluntarily participating in activities at your own risk.
– HTL is not responsible for any personal injury, property damage, or loss incurred while participating in volunteer activities unless such incidents arise from HTL’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Healing Through Love, its staff, board members, and other volunteers from any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising from your volunteer service.
Intellectual Property
Any materials, content, or intellectual property created by volunteers while performing their duties for Healing Through Love become the property of HTL. Volunteers agree that HTL has the right to use, distribute, and modify such materials for its purposes.
Amendments
Healing Through Love reserves the right to modify or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Volunteers will be notified of any significant changes, and continued participation in volunteer activities following such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
